Yes. The 4th generation antigen/antibody test detects the p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2. Levels of the p24 antigen will decrease a few weeks after exposure in both treated and untreated people. However, the antibody levels will remain high in both untreated and treated people; hence a positive result will still occur for HIV-positive with a well-controlled infection.
